Time Flies!

I've given a card class on Nov. 3rd and today is the ornament class!! I've got lots to share so I'll stretch it out a bit. On the card above I used Navy glitter paper I bought at Jo-ann's and embossed it with snowflakes from a Cuttlebug embossing folder. The stickers are from Creative Memories loaded with Stickles!! I love the snow topped with Stickles, as is the Snowman's scarf.

Here's one of the ornaments I'm teaching today. Thanks to the Cricut and the Cuttlebug. The cartridge I used for the doily is Reminisce, available exclusively from Creative Memories. The red base piece and the printed accordian flower and snowflake are cuttlebug dies. What would I do without these tools??

Have a wonderful day.

Hugs,
Lorelei

Fall Card Class!! Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012

Hello all!

I have a card class coming up on Saturday and I wanted to share the cards with you. These cards are made using Creative Memories stickers as the influence for the design.
These are fall cards. There are thank yous and birthdays and all ocassion. There are different techniques used on each and then there will be 2 cards that will teach
new techniques that I think will be new for you, but that I'm saving for a surprise! lol ?What did someone say I don't have them done yet? Hmmmm.

I hope you'll join us if you can. If you can't be there, I hope you enjoyed looking at what I've been working on recently.

We had rain today, pretty soon a fire in the wood stove, leaves covering the ground, someone making soup (oh yeah, that would be me) ahhhh, sounds great doesn't it?

Stay warm, my friends.

Hugs,
Lorelei

Can I Hear a "Hoot?" How About a "HOOT HOOT"

I am entering a new sort of challenge today with Dynamic Duos. There are lots of ideas on their site and anything is acceptable, with the challenge being to stick to the two colors for the week.

I was excited to join in and I thought I'd combine it with the Mojo Monday (MOJO262), which is a sketch challenge.  Mojo Monday has beautiful sketches which are wonderfully inspiring.  Go onto the website and see the archives of great sketches.

I made my card from a stamp I got at Joanne's to give it the seasonal touch.

It was actually fun to be limited to the Tangerine and Old Olive. (The neutral colors are free to use). I made the leaves with a Creative Memories punch that was seasonal a few years back. I added stickles to the leaves to match the glittery tangerine paper. I'm sorry it's hard to see in the picture. I went from not knowing what to do with the glitter paper to having a lot of fun with them (at least orange).

I hope you'll give challenges a try, they are so much fun and did I mention that you can win prizes for the creations you make? Lots of the challenges have sponsors that donate great stamps and papers, etc.

It's a beautiful day to be creative.

Retro Sketches Challenge #29

This is a card sketch from Retro Sketches.  A blog that issues sketches every week for cardmakers to use to make a card from your choice of papers and embellishments. Once made the card needs to be added to the blog via Inklinx for people (who follow the blog) to see and which enters your card into the challenge for that week! So with that said, I made a card to enter. This is only the second time I've entered a card into an on-line challenge. The prior time was years ago.
You can see that the card follows the basic idea in the sketch. I chose My Mind's Eye "The Sweetest Thing" for the paper and butterfly. Hexagons are very trendy right now and I still have my Creative Memories Hexagon punches which makes this trend pretty easy to follow.

I hope you like the card and that you might be encouraged to take it up a notch and enter your creations into a challenge like this. I'll have more entries in the coming days and weeks.  I've gotta go now so I can get back to the Kick Start class I'm taking.

XOXO,
Lorelei

A Busy Season for Card Giving

This is a very busy season for cards. I shared a wedding card with you last week but that's just one card you might need in the next few weeks. Today I have a masculine graduation card to share. The feminine grad card will be coming soon.
I made this card for our nephew who is graduating from College!! Good job Peter, woot, woot!!

The sentiment is from Our Daily Bread. The paper on the top half of the card is from Creative Memories. I think the bottom paper is from teh Paper Loft (I'd have to make Daisy, my protector, move to verify and she is sleeping so soundly :).

This is an anniversary card I made for friends. It stands to reason that if there's lots of weddings in June, there are going to be lots of anniversaries too. T'he paper is from My Mind's Eye, I think (again the dog's in the way!). The sentiment is from Inkadinkado and the flower is made from the same ribbon used underneath the sentiment. It's from Michaels.

I made this card for a masculine birthday. The paper used here IS from the Paper Loft. The brads are from Tim Holtz.

Finally, here is the dear one. She doesn't do much cardmaking but she does keep me company especially when we should be outside taking our walk. If you'd like to stay in touch, follow me!!

Off we go!

Blessings,
Lorelei

Happy Valentine's Day!!

I have a new job!!  I'm working with Penny Black making cards for display boards that the company gives to customers who buy the stamps used in the cards on that board.  (Read that sentence again slower and maybe it'll make sense.  haha)

Angela is the designer of the cards and I make duplicates for as many orders as are received at CHA (Craft and Hobby Association convention) held in January. My friend, Peggy got the position for me and I love her for it! I'm getting paid for doing what I love and I get LOTS of free stuff!! The stamps I use to make the samples, the ink pads, coloring chalk and more are all free to me. It doesn't get any better than this!

The card above is my favorite of the cards I made this time around. Everything used on this card is new from Penny Black and will be available in stores soon. The background is a paisley stamp that I love! The coloring on the flower image is done with Pebbles chalk.

This is a Valentine I made for my love (of course it's my hubby!!) The paper is from My Mind's Eye. There is a Tim Holtz ticket and the felt flower and red brads are from American Crafts. The clock is from Vintaj I believe, the sticker on the bottom is Creative Memories and the twine is Jenni Bowlin's. I put some Glossy Acents over the true red hearts on top.
This card is made using a technique I learned from a class with Jennifer Maguire. The long strip is a background stamp stamped with Versamark ink and then stamped with a reverse image stamp with Distress Ink in Peeled Paint. This was then stamped onto glossy cardstock and left to dry. Once dry I inked the entire image with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and wiped it off. Such a pretty effect.

Well that's all for today!! I have added a new page to this blog for the book challenges so check that out if you have a reading addiction also ;-).

Blessings on you and your Valentine!

Ornaments and Tags and Cards Oh My!

I am having a Christmas Ornament and Tags class and a Simple But Sweet Christmas card class at Anna Bearden's house on Saturday, December 3rd. The tags and ornaments will be at 10 am and the cards will be at 1:00 pm.

I hope you'll join us for the fun!

The ornament above is a two sided, 5 point star. It also closes into a small 1 1/2 square. You really need to see this in person to appreciate how cute the design is.

Here's another of the ornaments we'll be making using the Creative Memories Cricut Cartridge "Reminisce." I added some bling so it'll sparkle on the tree, it really is fun and easy to make.

Here's a super cute tag for gifts. It would make any present that much more special to give.

Lastly, I'll share one of the Simple But Sweet cards we'll be making from the Creative Memories "Noel" abc and sticker packs. The cards will practically make themselves. Please call Anna or send her an email and we'll see you on the 3rd.

I pray that all of my dear friends and family have a blessed Thanksgiving. Enjoy your family and friends and the feasting.

Hugs and blessings,
Lorelei

Open House at Anna's

There is going to be an Open House at Anna Bearden's house on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 10 am to 4 pm. I'll be teaching a card class and there's going to be lots of other GREAT things going on. There will be cropping of course, and Holly's goat soap and lotions, Pampered Chef, jewelry, candles, and more!!

Please come and kick off the Holiday season with some fabulous inspiration!!

Here are some of the cards for the class.
The theme of the cards is encouragement and they can be used for many different events, birthday, travel blessings, thinking of you and even a Christmas card!! More (Christmas cards to follow in another class. So stay tuned!)

We'd love to see you and I think you'll have a fabulous time!
Blessings to all,
Lorelei

Cards, cards, cards class YEAH!!

Here's a small sample of the  cards that I've made for the card class at Anna Bearden's house on Sat., June 4th. Here's the link annabearden@msn.com if you'd like to join the fun.

The card above would make a great Father's Day card or how about a birthday card for your brother or favorite Son-in Law. (We promise not to tell ;~).

This is probably my favorite card. I love strawberries and these look good enough to eat. There are 10 cards in the class for $20. They are all fun and unique and you'll have a card for all reasons and all seasons!

My next post will share my new favorite new product, Smash Journals by K & Co. Mine will record our adventures as Empty Nesters!

Please pray for Chris.  He has reported for duty to the USS Mahan somewhere out on the open seas!

We are also thankful to Karyn and her daughter, Amanda, for giving Nathan a job at the YMCA in Klamath Falls, Oregon. He is going to attend OIT in the fall and so a job is a VERY good thing. He'll be moving on June 12th. I can already hear the echo!

Love and may you be richly blessed,
Lorelei

Yet another layout!!

Here's another layout I've just completed for the Nic Howard on-line scrapbooking class I'm taking. This is Chris's graduation from high school in 2009. Blue was the color we were to work with which was perfect for the school colors and for helping me get another page done for the 2009 album. I love doing the clusters which I could not do before this class and I can still benefit from more practice.
I hope you all have a very blessed day and stay dry!

Lorelei

New Card Classes!!

My friend Anna has asked to do some card classes for her.  Yeh and whoot whoot!! I love teaching how to do what I love to do, thank you Anna.
Anna is a Creative Memories Consultant (you can find her here).  Creative Memories has these super cute packs that I'm using to make Christmas cards. You could also use them to make scrapbook pages (we all know that's our other love ;~).  Reminisce Christmas Additions is the one I used to make the cards above. The coolest thing is that everything except the ribbon, brads and cardstock for the base of the card comes in the pack!  Designer paper in 12 x 12 as well as  pre-cut double sided papers, word stickers and the cute cardstock stickers that I've used on these cards all comes in the one pack. The cards I'll be showing you have a beautiful vintage feel, and this isn't all!  I'll be able to get 10 cards out of this one pack!!

You need to pencil us in on your calendar for Anna's Christmas Open House on Saturday, November 13th from 10 am to 4 pm. She's going to have Gold Canyon Candles, Creative Memories, Jewelry Making with Patty Tatum, Me and my cards, food and crop time, if you want. I think it will be well worth checking out and I'll have more info for you soon and more cards to share!

I'm going to leave you this: What did the pumpkin with a boo boo need??

A pumpkin patch!! (Wah, wah, wah)

XO, Lorelei
